Our Visit to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts

Updated: Mar 13

Earlier this month I shared that we spent a morning at UMFA on Instagram. Maybe you caught a glimpse on my IG stories or on my post here.

Our Visit to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts

On this post, Our Visit to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

We decided that this year we'll be discovering more creative places, well at least I did. Exploring Utah is on our list of to do's maybe I won't always get around to sharing it with you all but I'm glad to have gotten a good amount of pictures this time around because it's not always the case sometimes I simply forget about my phone.

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is definitely one you should add to your list if you're ever in the area or in Salt Lake City for that matter. I love that we only live 30 minutes from downtown because we're not too far and not too close. And traffic is rarely the case. Plus getting to the UMFA was super easy and easy to find considering it's on the Utah University campus. Parking is free and so was our entry for the day that we decided to attend. Yup, FREE! Every first Wednesday and Saturday of the month is free entry. So we took advantage of that. Especially when we know walking through a museum doesn't take very long. It's definitely a good size and everything they had on display was worth seeing but we weren't there more than 2 hours.

They currently have Pictures of Belonging: Miki Hayakawa, Hisako Hibi, and Miné Okubo on display and let me tell you, it's divine. Everything about it is so insightful, knowledgeable and artistic. Definitely the kind of art I would display around our home therefore I was intrigued even more. But the rich history behind it all is the most impressive. My daughter, grandson and I just loved every minute.

I love that the displays change consistently and keeps things interesting and makes you want to visit again and again. Salt Lake has a lot to offer and this is just a small gem of many. We're looking forward to heading downtown more often this year so stay tuned for more exploring.

We're huge art and history geeks and introducing my kids to it at a very young age has definitely gotten them to appreciate it more and more as they've gotten older. Saylor, my grandson was so good while at the museum and really enjoyed it also, so who knows how this and more of this will get his noodle juices flowing.

Have you been to the UMFA before? Do you like visiting museums?

Xx,

Sandra
