Our 2024 Focus + Finance Goals

There's officially snow on the ground and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. If you've been following on my Instagram stories then you know that's what our lives have been consumed by at the moment. It's a beautiful sight nonetheless and desperately needed in our state. Utah ski resorts survive off our winter season and us citizens of the state don't mind it at all, okay most of us don't. Truth is the only thing scary about it is when we get too much of it and have to drive in it. In the meantime we're making the best of it over here and that means hibernating and nesting.

But enough of the weather, I meant to talk about this over on my Instagram stories over a couple of weeks ago but my mind shifted and instead I went into decluttering and re-organizing mode. In January my mind just tends to work that way and if I don't do it while that fire is lit then I will definitely procrastinate.

Our 2024 Focus + Finance Goals

Since January 1st I started by shredding old and expired paperwork with personal information. Honestly the less paperwork we have to file the better and it just feels good to know that we only have filed what we need in a file cabinet nicely labeled and organized therefore I know where everything is. Maybe it's the clerical jobs and experience I have in me from the early days of my life but it's just so satisfying to file things away.

Other than that I wanted to tackle our closets. Linen closet, clothes closet, coat closet, storage closet, office closet and cold room. Yes, we're blessed with so much accessible storage but keeping it organized for me is key, I hate to rumble through things rather than getting straight to it. Other than that, I'll be in the process of continuing working in our office/craft/work room and laundry room. So I'll be sharing more on that in the coming weeks.

Now finally our 2024 focus + finance goals, we are definitely planning on spending less funds this year and if we do spend we'll only be spending on the necessary essentials and if there happens to be any wiggle room it'll be for additional necessary updates around our home.

We don't plan on taking any trips out to California this year if we do tend to take any trips they will most likely be within driving distance which most likely will be in the fall going up north because Wyoming is definitely on the list for my birthday / wedding anniversary but we'll see.

For now paying off debt is also a priority. We need to pay down credit cards, invest towards our savings for future expenses and traveling and home renovations. We also would like to refinance our home by the end of the year if interest rate cooperate. We're looking forward to saving more money and investing that money back into our home.

Creating a plan for the sake of sanity and staying out of debt is essential for the future. We've done it before but one thing we have yet to do is invest. I'm hoping that besides investing in our 401K's we'll also be looking into some bigger investments but in order to do that we need to have the finances available necessary.

I don't claim to be an expert on finances by all means, besides having a background on Accounts Payable I have a lot to learn about investing so by all means send me your best advice or references. We could really use the advice.

My scattered brain as of lately still has me sorting through so many things still and I have yet to figure out but one thing I'm glad about this time of year is when I finally sort through all of our old filed paperwork. I've shredded what's necessary which feels like such a load off and the room for what's to come.

Soon I'll be sharing some closet reorganization but in the meantime here are some of the items I used to declutter our office paperwork.
